Battery Shipments
Shipping batteries or battery-powered devices requires special care because many batteries contain hazardous materials. Even common AA or 9-volt batteries can short circuit and overheat during shipping. Battery shipments containing dry cell batteries of over 9 volts must be marked "Not Restricted Batteries Enclosed". Either write this on the box or label the box with these words. A short circuit occurs when two battery terminals - positive & negative - are bridged by a conducting material causing rapid discharge of battery and generates heat. Short circuits can lead to fires in UPS vehicles, facilities, and aircraft. Please remove all batteries from toys, products, and tools and package seperately in plastic bags if possible.
