Sounders FC and The UPS Store Team Up for a Week-Long Book Drive. In summer of 2011 we collected over 3500 Books to help eliminate Literacy. Volunteers from the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation and The UPS Store - the exclusive sponsor of the Toys for Tots Literacy Program - will be at all gates collecting books and funds. Fans unable to attend the match may still participate in the Book Drive by dropping off books or monetary donations at local The UPS Store locations the week leading up to the match, July 11-15. In 1967, Seattle community members created Northwest Harvest to feed the hungry. Today we continue to fight hunger across Washington State through our network of partner food banks, meal programs and high-need elementary schools, providing millions of nutritious meals each year to those in need. The 2011 Komen Puget Sound Race for the Cure is returning to the beautiful Seattle Center on June 5! Starting at the Exhibition Hall, the 5K route winds through the streets of downtown Seattle, finishing at Fisher Plaza at the south end of the International Fountain. The Susan G. Komen Puget Sound Race for the Cure raises funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship, and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease. 75 percent of the Puget Sound Affiliate’s net income goes toward funding grants to local hospitals and community organizations that provide breast health education, and breast cancer screening and treatment programs for medically underserved women. The remaining 25% supports the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grant Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research at the national level.
