The UPS Store offers the gamut of packaging…Supplies for do-it-yourselfers to full-service packaging if you don’t have time or the confidence to do yourself. If we pack and ship it for you, you are also eligible for the Pack and Ship Promise. Ask us for details.
DO: Check with The UPS Store Experts before shipping fragile items (or items that might be considered hazardous or illegal to ship)
DO: Use materials that the professionals use -- foam packaging peanuts, bubble-cushioning, and packaging tape – to protect your gifts.
DO: Use 2” of approved cushioning (foam or bubble-wrap) on ALL sides & between your gifts. Anything less is risking damage, automatically voids your insurance, and will be denied for reimbursement.
DO: Include a second label on the inside of the package with return and destination address/phone, just in case the outside label becomes unreadable.
DO: Take batteries out of toys, electronics, etc before shipping.
DON’T: Wrap boxes in brown paper or tie with string. (It might catch on the conveyor belts and destroy the box, or at least lose the label.)
DON’T: Use materials like newspaper or real popcorn to cushion items. (They don’t offer enough shock absorption nor spring-back into shape.)
DON’T: Use old boxes or flimsy, gift boxes for shipping items. (Make sure the box is 200 Mullen certified strength, NOT 32 ECT certified.)
DON’T: Use duct tape, masking tape or cellophane tape to seal your boxes.
DON’T: Print your store’s pre-paid return label on “Draft/Economy” mode. (Use the standard normal mode so that the bar codes are crisp. Cover with clear packing tape to “waterproof” the label especially if you have an ink-jet printer.)
DON’T: Ship perfume, cologne, aerosol sprays, or liquor/wine. They are hazardous and illegal with very hefty fines….as much as $30,000!!!
PLEASE NO peanuts that have been in the basement or garage for ages, that stink, that have critter waste, or other surprises in them!
At this time, we do not have space to store half-filled boxes before we use up their peanuts.
Plus, we cannot recycle boxes or bubble-wrap. If you want a fragile, expensive item guaranteed to arrive safely, we can't use used bubble-wrap or boxes with confidence.
Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.
