The UPS Store helps the local Senior Center

The Fenton UPS Store is teaming up with theLooseSeniorCenterinLindento help meet the future goals of the center.

Through February 28th, the Fenton The UPS Store location will donate $1 for every UPS package shipped.  “We hope to ship many packages during the month,” said Les Beare, The UPS Store owner.  “With the help of our customers, we will donate $1.00 for every package shipped through us in February.  We hope to raise a significant amount to help the progress of the reconstruction of the Senior Center which benefits the seniors in Linden and Fenton.”   Many people do not realize that we are the only place in town that they can ship UPS at standard UPS rates, Beare added.  There is no need to travel to Flint to ship UPS.  We can also package items to be shipped.  Beare reminds us that The UPS Store has the “Pack and Ship Promise”.  We pack and ship it, it is guaranteed to arrive safely.

Carl Gabrielson stated that although they have insurance money for the buildings that burned, but they will soon be running out of space for all of their daily activities for the local senior community.  The 26,000 square foot Loose project that has been in the plans for many years is scheduled to be completed by September 2015 with the continued support of community.  The UPS Store is glad to be able to participate in this local project.

About Fenton -

Fenton- Be Closer

These days, it seems the more connected we become with the whole world through networks and wires and digitalized communications, the farther we grow from the things that really matter - like family, community, nature and a sense of history. Not so in Fenton, Michigan. Fenton possesses the unique quality of remaining close to the things that matter. Generations of families live together in Fenton neighborhoods; the business community is cohesive and supportive. Through the preservation of historic architecture and the natural resources of the many lakesparks and forests, Fenton retains visible ties to its roots and values. It is a community as close to genuine Americana as they come.

As closely-knit as the Fenton community may be, it is also located conveniently near the many terrific amenities of the Mid-Michigan area. This Genesee County city lines the borders of both Livingston and Oakland Counties, and its proximity to US-23 makes Fenton just a short drive from the major metropolitan areas of Flint, Detroit, Ann Arbor, Lansing and more. The city remains in touch with the cutting edges of education and innovation with great schools and entrepreneurialism.

Though so nearby to so much, Fenton is a little bit hidden, and the residents don’t mind this in the least. The heart of the city being set a bit off the freeway has allowed the community to stay close to each other and their values while remaining connected to the outside world.

Communities in surrounding areas may think they know what Fenton is all about from zooming by on US-23, or by passing through now and again, but residents know that the true Fenton is best understood from the inside out. For those who want to connect to something real, to feel a genuine sense of togetherness with a true community, Fenton invites you to
Be Closer.

Toys for Tots Literacy Program

We are proud to participate in the Toys' for Tots Literacy Program which allows us to offer our area's most economically disadvantaged children the ability to compete academically and to succeed in life by providing them direct access to books and educational resources that will enhance their ability to read and to communicate effectively.  As part of this program we have set up a collection box for new children books and have a donation box in our store for anyone that wishes to contribute their spare change.

Since  2008,  the  program  has  delivered  nearly  900,000  books  to  hundreds  of  thousands  of  less  fortunate  children.  This  program  not  only  brings  the  joy  of  reading  to  these children,  but  also  serves  as  an  important  tool  in  breaking  the  cycle  of  poverty.   During 2009 The UPS Store network raised $523,271.80, bringing the program’s two-year total to more than 1.16 million books for our nation’s less-fortunate children.

We plan to continue our support of the Toys for Tots Literacy Program with additional fund-raising activities throughout the year. Currently there is a Toys for Tots Literacy Program coin box in our lobby for cash donations.
