The UPS Store
In the Community

“LITTLE BROWN” IS IN YOUR TOWN!

One of the most important things anyone can know about our store is that we are locally owned and operated!  This is vital because people from Lafayette, Louisiana, like to do business with people they know.  It is easy to understand that many see our name and assume that we are the ones delivering their packages or that we are UPS, Also known as “Brown”.  While we thank them for the compliment, we let them know that we do shipping and a whole lot more! Our footprint is a little bit smaller and we operate a little bit differently.  We tell our customers to think of us as “Little Brown”.

Since we are local, we have the freedom and mobility to be highly plugged into our community in several different ways. We are proud to be a “Partner in Education” for local elementary school, L.J. Alleman.  Our store helps L.J. Alleman through digital printing and UPS shipping.  We are also a board member of the Change Agent Network (CAN), a local non-profit organization striving to better the lives of the people of Liberia, Africa, by finding new use for discarded computers, used clothing, books, etc.  Last year CAN shipped over 300 computers to Liberia to be used in free schools which were also built by CAN.  Finally, we are also proud to support a local theatre and visual arts non-profit known as Cites Des Arts.  Our owner has even acted in two of their plays…

The list by no means ends there.  We also are affiliated with or have helped the following organizations:

Earthshare Gardens:

Local Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) site that grows produce locally and donates portions to the St. Joseph’s Diner.

SERTOMA Club of Lafayette:

The Lafayette chapter of the SERTOMA Club volunteers their time to raise money to for groups such as The Autism Society of Acadiana through various events.  Their most famous event is the SERTOMA Air Show.  We are a member of this organization.

Business Networking International (BNI):

This one is all business!  The UPS Store is an active member in the Acadiana Networks Chapter & the Lagniappe Chapter of BNI.  We meet weekly with other local business owners to pass business by referral.  It has been a fantastic way to get the word out about what we do.  This organization is highly recommended for any business owner “PO’d at print, reamed by radio, or tuned out to television advertising.”

KRVS 88.7:

We are proud to support and tune-in to our local public radio station.  This is truly a link to Lafayette arts, entertainment and current events.  The Blues Box Rules!

Acadiana Center for the Arts:

We have sponsored a very unique event known as the Louisiana Crossroads Concert series which takes place each fall and spring.  A must see (or hear) for anyone interested in great music.

Second Saturday Art Walk:

Through the Acadiana Center for the Arts, we have also sponsored main and side gallery art exhibits featuring local artists and exhibited for the whole community for free each second Saturday of the month in Downtown Lafayette.

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (Lafayette Chapter):

Our store has contributed to this non-profit powerhouse for the past two years.  Our owner even participated in their 2009 Man & Woman of the Year fundraising competition in spring summer 2009.

Broadmoor Elementary School:

We sponsored and donated materials for their 2008 Fall Carnival.  Lots of fun and a big fundraiser for a great Lafayette school!

For our friends not yet listed here, please bear with us as we are still touching up construction on this page!

Beta sigma Phi, Lambda Gamma Chapter
This organization has been buying travel-sized shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant and other personal hygiene products/toilitries and sending them to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan for the past two years!  Soldiers find these miniature-sized goodies a good fit for their field packs when out for days on end.  We have been proud to help them by supplying tough boxes and APO/FPO shipping.  Our store was even presented with a United States Flag flown over The Multinational Headquarters in Iraq!  It is hanging proudly on our "Wall of Thanks"

Believe us when we say:  “Little Brown Is In Your Town”
